Episode 20: Kate Walker of Seneca Family Services on youth mental health in schools.


Kate is the Regional Executive Director for Washington State for Seneca Family of Agencies. A licensed clinical social worker, Kate has worked as a therapist before moving into program management roles. Before her executive role, she worked as consultant and coach while directly supervising an interdisciplinary team comprised of 15 staff across eight charter schools. She advised each school’s senior leadership to increase capacity to serve high poverty urban communities. and delivered effective academic, behavioral, and socio-emotional interventions through the implementation of a multi-tiered framework.

● Conducted comprehensive needs assessments to make recommendations for individual students and to create school-wide initiatives aimed at increasing achievement of at-risk students.
● Developed action plans based on best practices and provided oversight and advisement to school teams to ensure successful adoption.
● Established weekly consultation meetings with school executives to promote individual growth, problem-solve, and provide critical feedback to ensure progress toward school goals.
● Facilitated conflict resolution meetings and fostered relationship building to help create positive work environments.

Kate has a Masters of Science in Social Work from Columbia University and a Bachelors in Psychology from Santa Clara University.
