Barbara brings to Mindful Philanthropy deep expertise from working with mental health nonprofit organizations and global financial services firms. Since 2018, Barbara has served as senior advisor to the Center for High Impact Philanthropy in the School of Social Policy and Practice at the University of Pennsylvania to guide the development of “Health in Mind: A Philanthropic Guide for Mental Health and Addiction.” Previously, Barbara served as Board Treasurer and Policy Committee Chair at NAMI and Board President of NAMI NYC where she helped create the award-winning #IWILLLISTEN campaign. She hosted two CEO Summits on workplace mental health, including the inaugural summit at the NYSE; spoke at the White House on this issue; served on NYC’s Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Executive Council Regional Planning Consortium; and was published in Harvard Business Review and Psychiatric Services.
Barbara is proud to be a biracial, first generation American successfully living with bipolar 2 disorder. She also volunteers as a board director at The Coalition for Behavioral Health and The Arthur Miller Foundation. She earned her BA from Franklin and Marshall College and her Executive MPA from New York University’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service in 2019.
